I know I am a little late covering this topic, bust I just wanted to share my thoughts on this subject.
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that P2P applications are LEGAL. What this says is that, although some people abuse this right of free information exchange, most people use it for the purpose of which it was intended, the readily accessible exchange of ideas and information.
The MPAA would have you believe that all of us are downloading bootlegged copies of the latest movies, and RIAA would have you believe that we are all downloading all of our favorite albums free. As an avid P2P network user, I can assure you this is not true.
My compatriots and I use this network for research, and the occasional joke. IF you do not think that it is possible to use P2P for research, please check out “See what you share on P2P.†This is a site dedicated to showing how much information can really be found on P2P networks.
