I am sitting here watching Sir Paul McCartney perform a delightful, family safe, half time show, and wonder to myself, is this fluffy, no offensive material the future.
On one hand, I see television becoming more progressive, which is not necessarily a good thing. On the other hand, I see the FCC targeting shock jocks, such as Howard Stern, who have been peddling the same smut for years and it is just now becoming an issue.
I, as a family guy, am for non-offensive family programming. But as an educated American, I would also like to be able to think for myself. If you do not like something, and it does not harm you, then what is the big deal? You have the right not to listen! And as Parents, or Grandparents, even as older siblings have the right and responsibility not to let your progeny listen.
But you do not have the right to stop me, or any other free thinking adult American from viewing or listening to whatever I please. So ask yourself the next time you see or hear something offensive in the media, “Why am I still paying attention to this drivel?”
