Barbeque 2006-1

For us, yesterday kicked off the beginning of the 2006 barbecue season. I can definitely say that we got off to a late start this year, but it was worth the wait.

I really should have brought my camera. I do not think that I have taken a picture of the boys since Christmas. The boys had a blast, aside from Tony walking in front of RJ while he was swinging on the swing set. This happened twice. I really wished that Tony would have learned the first time. Or the second for that matter, but we managed to keep him away from the swing set for the rest of the night.

Beth tried sauerkraut for the first time. I would have bet a large sum of money that she would not like it, but she said that she did. He actually ate a second brat covered in it. I am proud of her for trying new things.

All in all is was a great barbecue.

Another Check-Up for Tony

Tony had his fifteen month checkup today. Everything went well and the three inoculations went smoothly. RJ held Tony’s hand during the immunizations. It was rather cute.

On a completely different note, I really wish that family practitioners (at least the one we saw today, who is not our usual doctor for the boys) would practice some social skills. The last time I took the boys to the doctor’s office, the pediatrician walked out of the room mid-sentence. I waited a couple of minutes thinking that maybe something else was happening that I did not know about, but finally packed up the boys and left.

We saw the same doctor today that we saw during the last visit. I have never met someone so condescending in my entire life.

RJ’s First Dentist Appointment

RJ had his first dentist appointment this morning. We chose a pediatric dentist in the hopes that in the future he would not be scared to go to the dentist like I was as a child. He was scared at first, but he managed. The rest of the appointment went smoothly.

RJ returned home triumphant, and is now very adamant about brushing his teeth. I wonder how long this will keep up?

Did you spring forward?

Today begins Daylight Saving Time. This is the last year of the short daylight saving time as beginning in 2007 and moving forward, DST will begin in March and end in November.

At least this is true for most of us. Indiana will continue trucking’ without switching their clocks, essentially putting them CDT. I remember a while ago I read some articles about Indiana thinking about going to DST, but they could not make up their mind about which time zone the state should be located. I have not read anything since, so I am assuming that the state still has not made up its mind.

UPDATE: My mother (a Hoosier) has graciously clarified the situation. Most of Indiana will observe DST. However, there are several counties that will not observe the time change. I am no longer assuming that the state of Indiana has not made up its mind, I am sure of it!
